Women's Golf Tied For Third At Cardinal Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. – Sophomore Elyse Emerzian is tied for 12^th individually after firing a pair of 4-over par 76's Monday on the opening day of the Cardinal Classic and Bradley Women's Golf is tied for third heading into Tuesday's final round of action at the par-72 Players Club.

Emerzian is one-shot out of the top 10 at 8-over par 152, while junior Maddie Hawkins was close behind in a tie for 16^th at 12-over par 156. Hawkins turned in matching 77's during Monday's opening day of play.

Bradley is 13 shots behind team leader and tournament-host Ball State, which closed the day atop the team standings at 599. IUPUI is second in the field at 602, 10 shots ahead of the Braves and Eastern Michigan who are tied for third at 612. Bradley was tied with Ball State for second after a first-round 305 and slipped into a tie for third in the 11-team field by the end of the day after a second-round 307. Western Michigan is in fifth place, two back at 614.

Freshman Mara Flaherty and sophomore Sarah Nacos find themselves in a five-way tie for 21^st. Flaherty had the low round of the day for the Braves with a two-over 74 in the second round and is tied with Nacos for 21^st overall at 155. Senior Megan Medinger rounds out the Bradley lineup in 37^th (158), posting rounds of 77 and 81 Monday.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Megan Welch matched the low round of her career with a second-round 77. She is one shot ahead of Medinger in a tie for 31^st at 157.

Bradley fired 22 birdies during Monday's action to rank second in the field and the Braves are a tournament-best +1 on par fives.

The final round of the Cardinal Classic will begin Tuesday morning with an 8 a.m. (CDT) shotgun start.
