Women’s Golf Tied For Eighth At MVC Preview

BURLINGTON, Iowa – Junior Maddie Hawkins is just two shots out of the top four, finishing Monday's action at the Missouri Valley Conference Preview tied for 11^th overall and Bradley Women's Golf sits in a three-way tie for eighth after the opening 36 holes.

Playing in her home state, Hawkins carded rounds of 79 and a six-over par 78 Monday at the par-72 Spirit Hollow Golf Course to close the day in a tie for 11^th overall at 13-over 157.

Bradley is tied with Valley rivals Illinois State and Indiana State for eighth at 644 in the 15-team field, which includes all 10 MVC squads. Tournament-host Northern Iowa sits atop the team standings at 621, with Missouri State seven shots back at 628 in second. Former Valley rival Creighton is two shots better than the Braves in seventh (642) and Bradley sits six shots out of the top five in the team standings.

Senior Megan Medinger matched Hawkins for low round honors for the Braves in the first round with a 79. Medinger is three back of Hawkins at 160 in a tie for 29^th after a second-round 81.

Freshman Mara Flaherty is tied for 47^th overall at 164, turning in rounds of 80 and 84 Monday. Sophomore Sarah Nacos posted scores of 83 and 82 to close the day tied for 52^nd (165), while fellow Elyse Emerzian is tied for 55^th (166) after shooting 81 and 85 to round out the lineup for the Braves.

Sophomore Megan Welch is in the field as an individual and followed a first-round 79 with an 83 to finish the day at 162 (T41st).

The final round of the MVC Preview is slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
