PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior runner McKenzie Altmayer (Geneva, Ill./Geneva) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after winning the individual title at the Bradley Intercollegiate last week.

Altmayer helped the Bradley Women's Cross Country team to the team title at last Friday's Bradley Intercollegiate, finishing first in the individual standings.  On a hot and humid day at Detweiller Park, Altmayer clocked a 17:21.1 over the three-mile course to finish more than five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.  A creative writing major, Altmayer owns a 3.95 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Altmayer and the Bradley Cross Country teams return to action Friday, Oct. 4 at the Joe Piane Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
