NORMAL, Ill. – Bradley sophomore Elyse Emerzian shot a career best one under par 71 in the second round to lead the women's golf team into third place after two rounds of the Redbird Invitational at the D.A. Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill., Sunday.
The Braves are only three shots off the pace of IUPUI, and just two back of second place Xavier. Halley Morell, coaching in her first tournament as head coach, saw her team combine for a 13 over 589. Bradley's first round score of 292 tied for the fifth lowest round in program history.
Senior Meagan Medinger also shot a career best 70 in the opening round, topping her previous best 71 last season at the Cardinal Classic. She is 11th at 146 going into her final round.
Emerzian is tied at the top of the leaderboard with Drake's Haeri Lee at 143. Her previous best round was a 75 at the Jan Winkler Invitational last season.
Freshman Mara Flaherty is 17th at 147, junior Maddie Hawkins 56that 155, and sophomore Sarah Nacos 74th at 159.
Bradley had the best score among the seven Missouri Valley Schools participating at the par 72 course.
The final round is scheduled to begin Monday at 8 a.m.
