Tennis Rallies for 5-2 Win at Saint Louis

The Braves went three sets to win each of the last four singles matches to finish Saturday

O'FALLON, IL – Bradley (2-2) rattled off four consecutive 3-set wins to rally for a 5-2 dual match win at Saint Louis (1-3) Saturday night at St. Clair Tennis Club. The win snapped a 7-match road losing streak to Saint Louis, which dated to 1994.

Freshman Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti secured the clinching point by pulling of an individual rally of her own, bouncing back from a 4-6 loss in her opening set at No. 4 Singles with back-to-back 6-3 wins in the second and third sets, pushing Bradley's lead in the team score to an insurmountable 4-2.

Saint Louis built an early, 2-0 lead by winning the first two doubles matches to finish, as well as a straight-sets decision at No. 6 Singles. Junior Sandra Maletin turned the tide, however, by claiming her fourth win in as many matches to start the season at No. 1 Singles, scratching her way to a 6-4, 7-5 triumph.

Sophomore Nikki Perlwitz evened the team score by winning a back-and-forth match at No. 5 Singles – 6-2, 0-6, 6-3. Senior Natalia Barbery put Bradley out in front, 3-2, by rallying for a 4-6, 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3 Singles, setting the table for Sanchez Bronzetti. Sophomore Bozana Lojpur tacked on the final point with a 3-set win of her own at No. 2 Singles – 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2.

The Braves will continue their 4-match road swing next weekend by visiting Kansas City Saturday and Missouri Sunday.
