Maletin Claims Second MVC Weekly Honor of 2020

Bradley junior has been named MVC Singles Player of the Week twice this season and five times in her career

ST. LOUIS – Bradley junior Sandra Maletin (Belgrade, Serbia) has been selected the Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week for the second time this season, according to the weekly announcement of the awards by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Playing in the No. 1 Singles position, Maletin remained unbeaten (5-0) during the early dual match season by rolling to a 6-3, 6-3 win Saturday against Kansas City's Michaela Zibilia. She lost out on an opportunity to move to 6-0 with a Power 5 conference victory Sunday, however, when her match against Missouri's Serena Nash was halted by the "play-to-clinch" scoring format. Maletin led 5-0 in the third set when the match was stopped after Missouri had clinched the team victory.

Saturday's win at Kansas City was Maletin's 50th career singles victory, making her the 10th player in Bradley history to win 50 career singles matches. She will enter Sunday's dual match against Milwaukee with a 50-23 (.685) career singles record, tied for the fourth-best winning percentage in program history.

Maletin also was named the MVC Singles Player of the Week Jan. 28 and now has earned the honor five times in her career, equaling Ariel Dechter (2013-17) for the most in Bradley history.

After playing its last four dual matches on the road, Bradley (2-4) will host Milwaukee (4-2) Sunday in an 11 a.m. dual match at the Clubs at River City. Admission is free for all Bradley Tennis regular-season home matches.
