Game Recap: Softball |
LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. -- Bradley rallied from behind for a 6-3 victory over UC Davis with Pomona, Calif., native Vicki Zaluske belting her first career home run to highlight a three-run sixth for the Braves, who opened play at the Golden State Classic Friday afternoon.

Playing near her hometown, Zaluske went 1-for-2 with a pair of runs, her first career homer and two RBI to help Bradley (3-3 overall) rally from a 3-1 deficit for the win over UC Davis (4-2 overall).  Fellow Californian Kealia Wysocki (Thousand Oaks), went 2-for-2 with three RBI, driving in the game-tying run with a two-run single in the fifth.

UC Davis wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with Alyse Rojas leading off the contest with a solo homer.

Bradley threatened in the bottom of the first, putting a pair on with junior Stacia Seeton following a Sydney Young leadoff single with a walk.  The Braves would end up stranding a pair, however, as the Aggies led 1-0 after one.

BU starter Grace French worked around a leadoff single in the second for a scoreless frame, but UC Davis was able to add another run in the top of the third.  Rojas had a single and stolen base before eventually scoring on a single to center off the bat of Marisa Given as the Aggies led 2-0.

Zaluske drew a walk to open the Bradley half of the third and moved to third on a pair of passed balls.  Junior Taise Thompson drew a walk and Zaluske later scored on a Wysocki single to cut the UC Davis lead in half at 2-1.

Rojas, who was 3-for-4 with all three UC Davis runs, smacked her second homer of the day with one out in the fifth to give her team a 3-1 edge.

With a runner on first and one out in the bottom of the fifth, Thompson ripped a double to put runner at second and third.  Wysocki drove in both base runners with a two-run single as the Braves knotted things up at 3-3.

French had a scoreless top of the sixth despite a leadoff double by Isbella Leon and Bradley struck for three more runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Sophomore Camryn Monteer had a one-out single and scored on a single by fellow sophomore Samantha Smith and UC Davis error to give the Braves a 4-3 lead.  Zaluske followed with her first career home run, with the junior's two-run shot putting Bradley ahead 6-3.

UC Davis managed just a two-out walk in the top of the seventh off French, who earned her first win of the season, before freshman Morgan Radford came on in relief to get the final two outs and pick up her first career save.

Bradley continues play at the Golden State Classic this afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. (CST) game against San Jose State.
