ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the seventh time this season Bradley Women's Basketball boasts the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week, but this time the award went to a first-time recipient with senior Chelsea Brackmann garnering the latest honor for the Braves according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon.

Brackmann, who was named MVC Player of the Week for the first time in her career, averaged 22.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 75 percent from the field in a pair of home victories that kept Bradley alone in second in the MVC standings.

She opened the week with a season-best 24 points on 9-of-10 shooting and finished a rebound short of a double-double in a 90-69 win over Valparaiso.  The 9-for-10 shooting was the best by a Brave (minimum 10 attempts) since Jan. 7, 2006.

In Sunday's 71-50 victory against Loyola, Brackmann turned in her fourth double-double of the year with 20 points and 11 rebounds, making 6-of-10 from the field and going 7-for-7 from the free throw line.  Brackmann entered the weekend shooting 59 percent from the free throw line, before going a combined 13-of-14 at the charity stripe in the two games.  She tied the Bradley career record with her 36th career game with 10+ rebounds, along with pulling down her 900th career rebound as she moved into 17th in MVC history in career rebounding.

The MVC Player of the Week award is the seventh this season for the Braves, with Brackmann joining three-time honorees Gabi Haack and Lasha Petree.  Bradley is the first team to have three different individuals earn Valley Player of the Week honors in the same season since Missouri State in 2015-16.  The seven player of the week selections this year is one more than Bradley had during the previous seven seasons (2012-13 through 2018-19) combined.

One of 10 national finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, Brackmann is averaging 10.8 points per game and is third in the MVC in rebounding at 8.5 boards per game this year.  In Valley play, she is shooting 57 percent from the field and has averaged 12.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest.

She has helped Bradley to 19-4 overall record, which is the team's best record through 23 games, and the Braves are second in the MVC standings with a 10-2 league mark.  In fact, BU's 39 combined wins over the last two years tied the school record for victories in a two-year stretch.

Bradley returns to action Thursday in a battle for sole possession of second place in the league standings.  The second-place Braves face third-place Drake on the road in a 6 p.m. game in Des Moines, Iowa.
