Women’s Golf Tied For 15th After Day One At Rio Verde

RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Senior Taylor Ledwein had the low round of the day for Bradley Women's Golf with a four-over 76 in the opening round of the 18^th annual Rio Verde Invitational and the Braves are tied for 15^th after Friday's action to open the spring season for BU.

Ledwein is tied for 24^th in the individual standings after the opening round at the par-72 Rio Verde Country Club White Wing Course to pace Bradley, finishing five shots behind the co-leaders. The Braves turned in a 318 to close the day tied with Bowling Green for 15^th in the 18-team field, just six back of the top 10.

Sophomore Megan Welch is tied for 47^th overall, carding a seven-over 79, while fellow sophomore Elyse Emerzian shot an opening round 81 and is tied for 66^th. Senior Megan Medinger and freshman Mara Flaherty rounded out the team scoring for the Braves with matching 82's and will enter Saturday's second round tie for 71^st overall.

Sophomore Sarah Nacos is in the field as an individual and is tied for 85^th after an opening round 84.

Xavier sits atop the team standings at nine-over 297, followed by Arkansas State (299) and Northern Illinois (302) to round out the top three. Bradley is two shots back of Missouri Valley Conference rival Illinois State for 14^th and four behind 13^th-place UMKC (314).

The second round of the Rio Verde Invitational tees off Saturday at 9:30 a.m. (CST).
