PEORIA, Ill. -- Sophomore Nikki Perlwitz (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) has been named the Bradley COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Women's Tennis split a pair of road matches.

Perlwitz went a combined 3-0 in singles and doubles action in outings against SIU Edwardsville and Saint Louis last week.  After teaming with Bozana Lojpur for a 6-3 win in doubles, Perlwitz swept SIUE's Caitlyn Sporing, 6-4, 6-0 to temporarily put the Braves in front, 2-1, in Friday's match at SIUE.  While her doubles match Saturday at Saint Louis was halted after the Billkens had already clinched the team point, Perlwitz pulled out a three-set win in her singles match, again pushing Bradley ahead, 3-2, in the team score.  The 5-2 win at Saint Louis was Bradley's first road win against the Billikens since 1994.  An international studies major, Perlwitz owns a 3.13 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the COUNTRY Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Perlwitz and Bradley Women's Tennis continue a four-match road swing Saturday with a 2 p.m. match at UMKC.
