Game Recap: Softball |
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Senior Emma Jackson allowed just two hits through the first four innings and Bradley Softball led Nebraska 1-0 heading to the fourth before the Huskers scored eight unanswered runs to top the Braves 8-1 Saturday morning to start the second day of the Troy Cox Classic.

Fellow senior Sydney Young gave Bradley (1-2 overall) the early lead with a RBI single in the top of the third.  Sophomore Keeler van Breusegen led off the frame with a single to left and fellow sophomore Camryn Monteer followed with a single of her own to put a pair of runners on.  Young ripped a single to center to plate van Breusegen with the first run of the contest and give the Braves a 1-0 advantage.

Jackson did not allow a hit in the first three innings, working around a two-out hit batter in the second and a Bradley error to leadoff the third to keep Nebraska (2-1 overall) off the board.  The Huskers finally got to Jackson in the fourth, sandwiching a pair of singles around a walk to load the bases with no outs.  Bradley got the first out of the inning at the plate on a fielder's choice.  A BU error on another fielder's choice allowed a run to score and kept the bases loaded.  A bases loaded walk to Rylie Unzicker drove home another run as Nebraska went in front 2-1.

After retiring Bradley in order in the fifth, Nebraska broke the game open with four runs in the bottom half of the inning.  Payton Huscroft had the big hit of the frame with a two-out three-run homer as the Huskers took a 6-1 lead to the sixth.

Nebraska added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth, with Tristen Edwards and Peyton Glatter both belting solo homers to push the Husker lead to 8-1.

Bradley will have little time to rest with the Braves taking on #20/24 Arkansas starting at approximately 1 p.m. (CST).
