PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior catcher Kealia Wysocki was named Bradley Softball's 2020 Most Valuable Player with 12th-year head coach Amy Hayes announcing her team's annual award winners Wednesday.

Wysocki, who was also selected as the team's Most Valuable Offensive Player, was one of three individuals honored following the abbreviated 2020 campaign.  In addition, sophomore pitcher/utility Grace French took home the team's Defensive MVP honor along with Bradley Softball's 4D award in recognition of her desire, dedication, determination and discipline.  Senior outfielder Sydney Young garnered the team's Most Improved Player award.

Hitting a team-best .433 on the season, Wysocki was tied for the team lead with 18 RBI and had scored 11 runs in her 22 games.  Her batting average was 71st in the nation, while her 29 hits ranked 110th in the country.  Wysocki also owned a .465 on base percentage, reaching base safely in each of her last 18 contests.  She boasted a career-best eight-game hit streak this spring, while collecting a team-high nine multi-hit games.

In fact, after a 1-for-9 start to the year, Wysocki hit .483 (28-of-58) with a .516 on base percentage and .707 slugging percentage over her final 18 contests.  She had four doubles and three homers on the year, closing the season second in Bradley history with 29 career homers and eighth in school history with 99 career RBI.  Wysocki hit .463 with runners on base in 2020 and had a .429 average with runners in scoring position.

Described by Coach Hayes as the hardest worker on the team, French was 5-0 with a 2.75 ERA in the circle to go with a .269 average with five RBI in her 12 games.  Hayes also called French the ultimate teammate, always putting the team's needs before her own.

French had seven starts in the circle, holding opponents to a .251 average over her 43.1 innings of work, which was less than four innings from matching her season innings from the entire 2019 campaign.  She led the team with a pair of complete game shutouts, collecting a three-hit shutout against Appalachian State and also posting a four-hit complete game effort in a blanking of Saint Peter's.  Over her last seven appearances, she posted a 1.98 ERA in 28.1 innings of work.

Young was limited to just 13 games due to injury, but was hitting .429 on the year and was expected to be back in the lineup to start Missouri Valley Conference play.  Despite playing in just under 60 percent of the team's games in 2020, Young had a career high with 15 hits and had matched a career-best with four stolen bases.  She had scored 10 runs, which was sixth on the team, and also owned an impressive .474 on base percentage.  Young was 15-for-35 at the plate this spring after going a combined 20-for-83 (.241) in her first three seasons.

Bradley was 14-9 when the remainder of the season was cancelled for the team's best record through 23 contests since 2007 (14-9).
