OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Senior forward Chelsea Brackmann (New Berlin, Wis./Eisenhower) added another award to her lengthy list of honors with Tuesday's announcement that she has been named a Senior CLASS Award Second-Team All-American.

The Senior CLASS Award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I women's basketball coaches, national basketball media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I women's basketball.  Oregon's Sabrina Ionescu was named the 2019-20 Senior CLASS Award recipient.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition.

One of 10 national finalists for the Senior CLASS Award, Brackmann was the first women's basketball finalist from the Missouri Valley Conference since 2016-17 (Drake's Lizzy Wendell).  In addition, she is the fifth finalist for the honor from Bradley in any sport, joining Bobby Smith (men's soccer - 2011), Dodie Dunson (men's basketball - 2010-11), Grant Escue (baseball - 2009) and Eitan Barbalat (baseball - 2008).

One of six two-time First-Team All-MVC performers in program history, Brackmann wrapped up her Bradley career tied for ninth in MVC history with 953 career rebounds.  She was voted a Second-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete in 2019-20 after taking home First-Team Valley Scholar-Athlete honors as a junior in addition to becoming just the third two-time MVC All-Defensive selection in school history during her final season on The Hilltop.

Diagnosed with ulcerative colitis prior to her junior season in which she collected 16 double-doubles and led the MVC with a school season-record 327 rebounds, Brackmann is a health science major with a 3.57 cumulative grade point average.  This past year, she was second in the Valley in rebounding at 8.5 boards per game, while shooting 52.9 percent from the field to go with her 11.0 points-per-game scoring average.

Brackmann helped Bradley to a school-record 22 victories in 2019-20, with the Braves capping a 22-7 campaign with a school-best third-place MVC finish.  Scoring 14.6 points per game on 63 percent shooting over her final seven contests, she scored 12.3 points per outing on 57 percent shooting in Valley play to help lead Bradley to a 13-5 record in MVC action.

A team captain, she finished her career sixth in Bradley history with 294 made free throws during her time as a Brave and her career rebounding average of 8.145 boards per game is second in school history.  She is also fourth all-time at Bradley with 126 career blocks, in addition to owning Renaissance Coliseum career records for rebounds and blocks.
