ST. LOUIS – Bradley senior Natalia Barbery (Santa Cruz, Bolivia/Evert Tennis Academy) has been selected the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year, according to a vote of The Valley's women's tennis sports information contacts announced by the league office Thursday morning.

Barbery leads a group of eight student-athletes named to the MVC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete first team.  Bradley sophomore Bozana Lojpur (Burnaby, B.C./Burnaby Mountain Secondary School) received honorable mention on the Scholar-Athlete Team, giving the Braves multiple award winners for the seventh consecutive year.

Majoring in industrial engineering with an emphasis in engineering management, Barbery boasts a 3.67 cumulative grade point average.  An honorable mention Valley Scholar-Athlete each of the last two years, Barbery earned the MVC Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award in 2019 and qualified for the MVC Honor Roll in each of her first three years, as well as the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of her first seven semesters at Bradley.

On the court, Barbery became the first player in Bradley Women's Tennis history to undefeated in conference play, earning first-team All-MVC honors in 2018-19 after going 5-0 at No. 4 Singles.  She added first-team all-league recognition at No. 1 Doubles by teaming with Sandra Maletin for a 4-1 Valley record, giving her the Bradley single-season records for combined conference wins (nine) and combined conference winning percentage (.900).  A two-time MVC Singles Player of the Week, Barbery finished the abbreviated 2019-20 season tied for 10th in program history with 97 combined career wins, ninth with 49 career doubles victories and 11th with 48 singles triumphs.

Lojpur, who owns a 3.38 cumulative GPA while majoring in chemistry with an emphasis in business, qualified for the MVC Honor Roll in 2019 and the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll in each of her first two fall semesters.

The 2019 MVC Women's Tennis Freshman of the Year, she went on to win the Flight 2 Singles title at the 2019 MVC Women's Tennis Individual Championships this past fall.  Playing at No. 2 Singles for the bulk of her freshman season in 2018-19, Lojpur quickly followed Barbery as the second player in program history to go unbeaten in singles play during the conference season.  Earning a total of four MVC weekly awards two singles and two doubles, Lojpur was voted first-team All-MVC at No. 2 Singles in 2019, the highest playing position to earn first-team all-conference recognition in Bradley Women's Tennis history.
