The 2020 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC, continues with a look at the third of the four Charles Orsborn Award finalists in Chelsea Brackmann (Women's Basketball).

Honoring Bradley's former four-sport student-athlete, Men's Basketball Head Coach and Director of Athletics, the Charles Orsborn Award is the most-prestigious honor Bradley University bestows upon a graduating senior student-athlete and recognizes the ability of the winner to combine athletic and academic success with community service.  The award is selected by the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee (IAC), following a thorough review of all six nominees and interviews with the four finalists.

A native of New Berlin, Wis., Brackmann was selected to the 2020 Women's Basketball Senior CLASS Award All-America second-team and is one of six student-athletes in Bradley Women's Basketball history to twice earn All-Missouri Valley Conference first-team recognition.  The program's all-time leading rebounder, Brackmann also finished 14th in Bradley Women's Basketball history with 1,108 career points and fourth with 126 career blocked shots, numbers she accumulated while battling illness (ulcerative colitis) in her final two seasons.  In addition, she is a two-time MVC All-Defensive Team selection.

A health science major with a minor in health, Brackmann carried a 3.57 cumulative grade point average into the 2020 Spring semester.  Along with her academic success, she often served as a volunteer tutor for multiple teammates majoring in the health fields and enrolled in science courses.  Selected to the 2019-20 NCAA Division I-AAA Athletic Director's Association Scholar-Athlete Team, Brackmann was voted a MVC Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete in 2019 (first team) and 2020 (second team).  She qualified for the MVC Honor Roll in each of her first three years, as well as the Bradley Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll in six of her first seven semesters.

Throughout her collegiate career, Brackmann participated in more than 30 community service activities, both individually and as a member of the Women's Basketball team.  In addition to her community service, Brackmann accumulated more than 200 hours of direct patient care at Unity Point Methodist in preparation for her career as a physician's assistant.

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards are celebrating the year in Bradley Athletics by transitioning to a virtual presentation throughout the month of May. Each year on the final night of spring semester classes, the Bradley Department of Athletics gathers at Renaissance Coliseum for the annual Kaboom! Awards, an event modeled after the popular awards shows in the entertainment industry (Oscars, Grammys, ESPYs) and recognizes all of the graduating seniors, spotlights the team and individual achievements from throughout the year. Traditionally preceded by a red-carpet reception, the awards show is filled with video and graphic tributes, which will be presented this year through the Bradley Athletics website, BradleyBraves.com, and the department's social media accounts -- culminating with the announcement of the 67th Charles Orsborn Award May 29 and viewing of the Moments of the Year May 30.

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards continue Wednesday with highlights from the 2019-20 Men's Cross Country and Track seasons.
