The 2020 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC, continues today by highlighting the 2019-20 Bradley Women's Golf season.

The Braves were likely to be one of the favorites at the 2020 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Golf Championship, which was scheduled for mid-April, before having the season cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In fact, Bradley was ranked second in the MVC in the Golfstat rankings with five individuals among the top 25 in the individual ratings.

First-year head coach Halley Morell got her tenure off to a strong start with Bradley taking second at the season-opening Redbird Invitational despite missing three-time All-MVC performer Taylor Ledwein.  The Braves took second in three of seven tournaments in 2019-20 and placed in the top half of tournament fields in six of seven outings.

Ledwein missed three tournaments of the fall due to injury, only to return to post an impressive 72.82 stroke average in her four appearances.  She went on to earn three top-10 finishes, including second-place showings in her two fall tournaments.  Ledwein's season stroke average would have topped the best season average in MVC history set by Bradley's Danielle Lemek in 2013-14.

Junior Maddie Hawkins continued to improve, ranking second on the team with a 77.24 stroke average and was a First-Team MVC Scholar-Athlete selection.  Sophomore Megan Welch took home honorable mention MVC Scholar-Athlete honors, posting a 75.44 average over the final three tournaments of the season.

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards are celebrating the year in Bradley Athletics by transitioning to a virtual presentation throughout the month of May. Each year on the final night of spring semester classes, the Bradley Department of Athletics gathers at Renaissance Coliseum for the annual Kaboom! Awards, an event modeled after the popular awards shows in the entertainment industry (Oscars, Grammys, ESPYs) and recognizes all of the graduating seniors, spotlights the team and individual achievements from throughout the year. Traditionally preceded by a red-carpet reception, the awards show is filled with video and graphic tributes, which will be presented this year through the Bradley Athletics website, BradleyBraves.com, and the department's social media accounts -- culminating with the announcement of the 67th Charles Orsborn Award May 29 and viewing of the Moments of the Year May 30.

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards continue this afternoon with Cheerleading highlights.
