Kaboom! Awards: Women's Cross Country/Track

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC, continues with a look back at the 2019-20 women's cross country and track campaigns.

The Braves once again enjoyed a successful campaign on the course and track during the last year. Bradley placed second at the 2019 Missouri Valley Cross Country Championship, marking their seventh-straight top-two finish at the conference meet. The track campaign was highlighted by totaling 31 points at the 2010 MVC Outdoor Championship -- nearly double its point total from the previous season (17).

Niamh Markham was named the team's Most Outstanding Runner of the 2019 outdoor season, while Ayah Aldadah earned Most Improved accolades. Aldadah carried her momentum into the cross country season, where the honorable mention all-conference recipient earned the team's Most Outstanding Runner honors with Sophia McDonnell picking up Most Improved accolades. Finally, McKenzie Altmayer led BU at the 2020 indoor meet to earn the team's top honor as Most Outstanding Runner with sprinter Hannah Ivy receiving Most Improved honors.

The 2020 Kaboom! Awards is set to celebrate Bradley Athletics during the month of May, transitioning to a virtual presentation throughout the month. Each year on the final night of spring semester classes, the Bradley Department of Athletics gathers at Renaissance Coliseum for the annual Kaboom! Awards, an event modeled after the popular awards shows in the entertainment industry (Oscars, Grammys, ESPYs) and recognizes all of the graduating seniors, spotlights the team and individual achievements from throughout the year. Traditionally preceded by a red-carpet reception, the awards show is filled with video and graphic tributes, which will be presented this year through the Bradley Athletics website, BradleyBraves.com, and the department's social media accounts -- culminating with the announcement of the 67th Charles Orsborn Award May 29 and viewing of the Moments of the Year May 30.

Coming up on Thursday is the announcement of the first finalist of the Charles Orsborn Award.
