MEDINAH, Ill. – Former Bradley men's golf standout Andy Mickelson earned a spot in the PGA Professional Championship for the second straight year and third time in his career after tying for second at the Illinois PGA Championship Wednesday.

A 2003 First-Team All-MVC performer for the Braves and 2019 Bradley Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Mickelson earned a spot in the 54th annual PGA Pro Championship, which will be held April 25-28, 2021 at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., by tying for second at the Nadler Golf Illinois PGA Championship held at Medinah Country Club Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Director of Golf at Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville, Ill., Mickelson finished at nine-under (204) to tie fellow Mistwood pro Frank Hohenadel for second in the field.  Mickelson led following Monday's opening round after he fired an impressive five-under 66 and followed it up with a four-under 67 to close Tuesday's action tied for second in the field.  A final round 71 helped him finish four shots back of medalist Mike Small (-13), who claimed his 13th career Illinois PGA Championship title.

Mickelson tied for fifth at last year's Illinois PGA Championship to earn a spot in the 2020 event, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.   He also earned a spot in the 2016 PGA Pro Championship after claiming the 2015 PGA Assistant Championship.  That 2015 PGA Assistant Championship was played at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla., site of the 2021 PGA Professional Championship.
