ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- For the second time this season and the sixth time in her career junior Lasha Petree has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week according to an announcement by the league office Monday afternoon after she helped Bradley Women's Basketball complete its first regular-season sweep of Southern Illinois since 2012-13.

Petree, who also earned the honor after a 30-point effort against Northern Illinois earlier this year, picked up her sixth career Valley Player of the Week selection and is the 16th six-time winner in MVC history.

The leading scorer in the Valley at 21.5 points per game this season, Petree averaged a team-best 23.5 points per game in the two home wins against Southern Illinois this past weekend.  She shot 53 percent from the field and was 12-of-14 (85.7 percent) from the free throw line in the two contests, while also averaging 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals per game against the Salukis.

In the opener, Petree scored 23 points in just 24 minutes of action as she helped Bradley to its biggest win (77-55) in the series since Feb. 2, 2013.  She also had four rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal Friday night.  Petree followed up that performance with another game-high scoring effort (24 points) in Saturday's win.  She had one of the most efficient games of her career, hitting 8-of-11 from the field and also collecting four boards, three assists, three blocks and a steal.

Now just the fifth junior to reach 1,100 career points in Bradley history, Petree passed former teammate Chelsea Brackmann for 14th on Bradley's all-time scoring list and currently has 1,111 career points.

Petree and the Braves are back in action this weekend, opening a two-game series at Evansville with a 6 p.m. contest Friday at Meeks Fieldhouse.
