Bradley Track Heads to Indiana State

After a successful season opener last weekend, the Bradley track and field teams are back in action on Saturday, competing at the Sycamore Team Challenge.

MEET INFO
Running events start at 1:30 p.m. CT with the Braves slated to compete against host Indiana State, Miami (Ohio), Purdue Fort Wayne and Southeast Missouri State.

WEEK ONE UPDATE
The Braves made a mark right from the start in 2021 as BU posted six top-10 times in school history last weekend, highlighted by one program record:
• Kyra Koontz – 1st; 60m dash (7.88)
• 4x400 relay – 2nd (3:58.79)
• T'ya Suber – 3rd; 200m dash (25.97)
• Wilma Nielsen – 3rd; mile run (4:50.75)
• Tiana LoStracco – 4th; 600m run (1:36.93)
• Sierra Bryant – 7th; 200m dash (26.67)

WILMA NIELSEN EARNS VALLEY HONORS
Freshman Wilma Nielsen wasted no time making an impact at Bradley and was honored as Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week after her collegiate debut.

Nielsen won the mile run at the Jack Jennett Open last weekend with a time of 4:50.75. The rookie's time is the third-fastest in school history, while ranking first in the Valley and 26th nationally. Nielsen was also a member of the 4x400 relay team that posted the second-best time in school history.

MORE BRADLEY DEBUTS
After nine Braves made their collegiate debuts last weekend, 10 more follow this weekend at Indiana State.

Zach Albrecht (mile), Rodrigo Alvarez Gonzalez (DMR), Noah Costa (mile, DMR), Max Dieterich (mile), Aiden Donohue (800m), Billy Hauenstein (3,000m) and Mason Jones (800m, DMR) are all set to wear the Bradley Red & White for the first time on the men's team, while Lara Gebel (4x400), Olivia Hobbs (DMR) and Julia Nielsen (800m) will make their debuts for the women's program.

UP NEXT
The Braves are set to compete on the cross country course next weekend at Lipscomb before returning to the track on Feb. 13, again competing at Indiana State.
