Schoffstall Earns Valley Weekly Honor

Freshman defender is Bradley Soccer's third weekly award winner this season

ST. LOUIS – Combining a game-winning goal with his efforts in Bradley's 1-0 win Saturday against SIU Edwardsville, Braves freshman Jake Schoffstall (Palatine, IL/William Fremd HS) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Schoffstall played the full 90 minutes as an anchor to a back line that limited SIUE to just one, non-threatening shot on goal and he headed home the game's lone tally in the 77th minute, leading the Braves to the 1-0 MVC home win against the Cougars Saturday night at Shea Stadium. While helping the Braves to their second consecutive shutout, Schoffstall also earned his third career goal and second game-winning tally of the season.

Schoffstall is the third Bradley Soccer student-athlete to earn a weekly nod from The Valley this season. Graduate goalkeeper Bryce Logan was the MVC Defensive Player of the Week Aug. 31 and sophomore Jack Douglas was tabbed the league's Offensive Player of the Week Sept. 28, following Bradley's first win against SIUE.

Bradley will look to extend its modest, 2-game unbeaten streak Wednesday when they visit in-state Valley rival Loyola Chicago (7 p.m. on ESPN+). The Braves will continue a tough road swing Sunday evening by visiting #9 Missouri State (5 p.m. on ESPN+), before closing out the regular Nov. 6 with a MVC home game against Evansville, a 7 p.m. kickoff at Shea Stadium.
