The Bradley cross country programs head to Illinois State for the MVC Championships, looking to again reach the top of the podium and win a pair of team titles on Friday.

MEET INFO
The women's 6K race opens the action with a 1 p.m. start time before the men's 8K concludes the meet at 2 p.m. Both races can be seen live on ESPN3.

The top 10 finishers in both races will earn all-conference honors, while 11th through 15th will collect honorable-mention accolades.

2020-21 CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
The Braves earned a pair of runner-up finishes the last time the meet was held in the delayed winter season of 2020-21.

McKenzie Altmayer led the BU women and earned all-conference honors for the third time in her career by placing sixth. Sophia McDonnell (ninth) and Wilma Nielsen (10th) were also named to the All-Valley Team, while Julia Nielsen and Emma Ehrhardt received honorable mention.

Freshman Billy Hauenstein led the Braves in his rookie championship by placing sixth. He was joined on the all-conference team by Charlie Parrish (seventh) and Alec Danner (eighth).

MVC CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Both Bradley programs have enjoyed tremendous success at the MVC Championship. The BU men's team became just the second school in conference history to win five-straight titles from 2015 to 2019 with only last season's COVID campaign ending the streak.

The Bradley women have also won five Missouri Valley Conference Championships and have placed in the top two at the meet in each of the last eight seasons – tying the conference record.

PRE-CHAMPIONSHIP POLL
The Bradley men were picked first in the MVC Pre-Championship Coaches Poll, while the women were second.

The men received four first-place votes and 74 total points to finish first in the poll ahead of Drake. The Bulldogs also received four first-place votes and 72 total points, while Illinois State was third with 62 points and the final first-place vote.

The women were one point behind two-time defending champion Loyola in the rankings. The Ramblers were first with seven first-place votes and 94 points, while the Braves had the remaining three first-place votes and 93 points. Illinois State was third with 80 points.

UP NEXT
The Braves are back in action on Friday, Nov. 12 – competing at the NCAA Midwest Regional on the campus of Iowa.
