BARTONVILLE, Ill. – Senior Megan Welch is tied for ninth and was one of three Braves to post a career-best round as Bradley Women's Golf finished Saturday's action at the Coyote Creek Classic fourth in the team standings.

Defending Big East champion Xavier leads the field at two-over 578 with the Musketeers boasting the top two individuals in the field.  Emma McMyler of Xavier is atop the individual leaderboard at eight-under (136) at the par-72 Coyote Creek Golf Club, after firing a six-under 66 in the day's first round.  Teammate Kara Carter is second at four-under 140.

Hosting its first tournament at Coyote Creek, Bradley opened up action with a first-round 302 thanks in part to Welch; who matched her career-best round with a 72.  The Braves were three shots better in the afternoon (299) to finish the day fourth overall at 25-over 601.  Missouri Valley Conference rivals Missouri State (2nd – 582) and Illinois State (3rd – 592) enter Sunday's final round ahead of Bradley in the standings, while the Braves hold a six-shot edge on fifth-place Green Bay (607) in the 12-team field.

Welch followed up her opening-round 72 with a 75 and sits in a tie for ninth overall at three-over 147 to pace Bradley.  Junior Mara Flaherty is three shots back of Welch in a tie for 20th, chasing a first-round 78 with a 72 which matched the lowest round of her career from the Little Rock Classic in October 2019.

The freshmen duo of Kathryn McNease and Maria Perakis are tied for 23rd overall at 153, three shots out of the top 20.  McNease carded rounds of 77 and 76 Saturday, while Perakis had a 75 in the morning and second-round score of 78.

Senior Sarah Nacos completed the team scoring for Bradley at 154 in a tie for 27th, improving on a first-round 78 with a 76 in the afternoon to match her low round of the season.

Playing as an individual in the field, sophomore Vaijayanti Bharkhada had the highlight of the day for the Braves with her first career hole-in-one on the par-3 11th during the second round.  Bharkhada fired a career-best three-over 75 in the morning and enters Sunday's final round tied for 21st at 151 after a second-round 76.
