#22 LSU Rides Early Run to 77-51 Women's Basketball Win

The Braves will try to carry the momentum of their second-half win into Sunday home game

BATON ROUGE, LA – A trio of Bradley freshmen paced the Braves (3-5) statistically, but #22 LSU (9-1) jumped out to a 13-0 lead to start the game and never looked back en route to a 77-51 win in a short-notice game in front of 5,624 fans Saturday afternoon at Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Guard Caroline Waite returned to action for the first time in three weeks and drained 4-of-9 3-point attempts on the way to a team-high 14 points. Freshman center Callie Waite pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds and freshman guard Nika Dorsey contributed seven points, five rebounds and a team-high five assists for the Braves, who outscored the host Tigers, 35-30, in the second half.

Alex Morris led the Tigers with 17 points, Faustine Aifuwa poseted a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, Jailin Cherry scored 12 and Ryann Payne chipped in 10 points off the bench to complete the double-digit scoring for LSU.

Bradley senior Gabi Haack finished with nine points to end her double-digit scoring streak, but she did drain a pair of 3-pointers to extend her streak of consecutive games with at least one trey to 16 games.

Bradley will have little time to recover as the Braves will host their first home game since Nov. 19 by welcoming Illinois-Springfield to Renaissance Coliseum for a 4 p.m. tip Sunday. Admission will be free for Sunday's game against the Prairie Stars, which was just added to the schedule Friday.
