OVERLAND PARK, KS – Bradley fifth-year senior guard Gabi Haack (Elk River, MN/Elk River HS) continues to make program history, most-recently becoming the first women's basketball student-athlete in Braves history to repeat as one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.

One of 30 national candidates for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award during her original senior season, Haack has once again made the initial cut for the prestigious award during her fifth year at Bradley after taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.  Award organizers announced the lists of 30 candidates for both the 2021-22 Men's and Women's Basketball Senior CLASS Awards Tuesday afternoon and Haack is the lone women's basketball student-athlete from the Missouri Valley Conference remaining under consideration for the honor, which recognizes the most outstanding NCAA Division I senior student-athletes in select sports.

Haack is one of 17 student-athletes from five sports in Bradley Athletics history to be recognized as one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award.  She joins former Men's Basketball student-athlete Dodie Dunson (2009-10 and 2010-11) as the only Braves to be recognized twice.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character, and competition.

Boasting a 3.81 cumulative grade point average as an elementary education major, Haack was the 2020-21 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year.  She went on to earn the 2021 MVC Dr. Charlotte West Award and was The Valley's nominee for the 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year.  This past summer, she completed an internship with the University of Florida football strength and conditioning program, the first female to participate in the Gators football summer intern program.

On the court, Haack owns seven Bradley Women's Basketball career records:  games played (126); games started (116, all consecutively); minutes played (4,050); points (1,764); 3-point field goals (309); 3-point field goal attempts (802); and free throws (365).  Haack joins former men's student-athletes Kyle Korver (371) and Shane Hawkins (314) as the only MVC men's and women's basketball student-athletes to make at least 300 career treys and she is the only active women's basketball student-athlete in all three NCAA divisions to accumulate 300 career 3-pointers, 300 free throws and 700 rebounds (751).

Haack currently leads the Braves in scoring at 17.7 points per game and ranks among the national 3-point shooting leaders by draining 26-of-55 (.473) of her attempts from beyond the arc through seven games.

The men's and women's candidates will be narrowed to two fields of ten finalists later in the season, and those names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will then select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four C's of community, classroom, character and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2022 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four® this spring.
