PEORIA, IL – Kam Finley scored 25 points, including a game-winning 3-pointer with three-tenths of a second remaining, lifting visiting UNI to a 73-72 Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball win at Bradley Friday night at Renaissance Coliseum.

Reminiscent of the 2019 meeting between the two teams at Renaissance Coliseum, when Bradley overcame an 18-point, fourth-quarter deficit to force overtime in an eventual 81-78 loss, the Braves (11-8, 7-5 MVC) rallied from a 16-point deficit in the fourth quarter Friday, only to see their rally washed away by Finley's triple.

Lasha Petree matched Finley for game-high scoring honors with 25 points to pace the Braves.  Tatum Koenig, however, was Bradley's only other double-digit scorer, totaling 13 points.  In her second consecutive start, Uche Ufochukwu hauled down 10 rebounds for Bradley.

In addition to Finley, UNI received 12 points from Nicole Kroeger and 11 from Karli Rucker, as well as a game-high 16 rebounds from Bre Gunnels.

Benefitting from an 8-for-8 effort from the free throw line in the first half, UNI took a 38-33 lead into halftime.  After Bradley pulled even at 43-43 on a pair of free throws, the result of a technical foul charged to the UNI bench with 6:27 left in the third quarter, the Panthers closed the quarter with a 20-4 surge, capped by a Kayba Laube 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 63-47 lead.

Bradley chipped away at the deficit to start the fourth quarter, then cut out a big chunk on consecutive, second-chance 3-pointers from Chloe Rice and Koenig to pull within 68-62 with 4:22 remaining.  Following a UNI timeout, Bradley got a stop and another Koenig bucket to claw within 68-64.

After several empty scoring trips on both ends, Lasha Petree got the Braves to within one, 68-67, by completing a 3-point play with 1:48 left.  Mahri Petri gave Bradley its first lead of the second half, 69-68, half by scoring with 29 seconds left, setting off a wild flurry.

Megahn Maahs answered for a 70-69 lead with 13 seconds left, but the Braves came right back on Lasha Petree's coast-to-coast "and-1" layup.  Following a timeout, Petree converted the free throw to complete the 3-point play for a 72-70 lead with 7.4 seconds left.

UNI again called timeout to advance the ball into the front court, then needed two more timeouts when they were unable to inbounds the ball.  Gabi Haack intentionally fouled on the first three inbounds passes to kill clock, leaving UNI with 2.4 seconds for the final inbounds play and Finley drained a 3-pionter from the left wing at the buzzer for the win.

The teams will face off again Saturday with a 4 p.m. tipoff at Renaissance Coliseum.

NOTES:  The teams combined to make 20-of-21 free throws, including a 13-for-13 effort by UNI … Bradley senior guard Gabi Haack scored eight points, moving into a tie for sixth place on the school's career scoring list with 1,161 points.
