Game Recap: Women's Basketball |
PEORIA, Ill. – Senior Gabi Haack connected on five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points, but Bradley Women's Basketball dropped round two of the I-74 rivalry with Illinois State 79-59 Thursday night at Renaissance Coliseum.

Haack was 8-for-12 from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range, as she scored a game-high 23 points to lead the Braves (12-11 overall, 8-8 MVC).  With her five triples, Haack became the first player in Missouri Valley Conference history to hit 60 or more three-pointers in four different seasons.  In addition, she jumped three spots on the MVC career three-point list into fifth with her 267th career triple along with posting the 14th outing of her career in which she hit five or more three-pointers.  Haack's 23-point performance was her 25th career 20-point effort.

Illinois State (13-6 overall, 10-6 MVC) used a balanced scoring effort, with five Redbirds scoring in double figures, and shot 53.6 percent from the field in the victory.  Mary Crompton paced Illinois State in scoring with 14 points.

Bradley had its lone lead of the night in the opening minutes of the contest on the first of Haack's five triples, but Paige Saylor answered with a three-pointer of her own that sparked a 10-0 Redbird run.  The Braves hung with Illinois State early in the second quarter, trailing 22-18 after another Haack three-pointer.  This time ISU's Juliunn Redmond answered with a three-pointer to open a 9-2 Redbird push that extended the lead to 31-20.  Illinois State eventually built a 37-24 halftime advantage.

Illinois State opened the second half with a basket and never allowed the lead to dip under 13 the rest of the way as the Redbirds took the game 79-59 for their second win at Renaissance Coliseum in the last nine meetings in Peoria.

Freshman Tete Danso made her first career start, finishing with two points and a team-high seven rebounds to go with two assists, one block and one steal in 15 minutes of action for the Braves.

Bradley closes out the regular season next week, opening a two-game home series against Indiana State Friday March 5 in a 6 p.m. game at Renaissance Coliseum.
