PEORIA, Ill - Sandra Maletin continued to dominate, and
Juliana Martinez picked up her first colligate win as the Braves rolled the SIUE Cougars 6-1 Friday afternoon at The Clubs at River City.
A shakeup in the doubles lineup led to newfound success, with the first-time tandems of Maletin/Victoria Sanchez Bronzetti and
Maria Bezmenova/Martinez picking up 6-3 wins at #1 and #3 doubles respectively.
The Braves carried that momentum in singles, winning the first three singles decisions. Maletin rolled to a 6-4, 6-3 victory at Number 1 singles, bringing her season record to 4-1.
She was followed quickly by freshman
Maria Bezmenova, who picked up a convincing 6-4, 6-2 win at Number 4 singles. The win was Bezmenova's second career singles win, and marked the first time she has won both singles and doubles on the same day.
Elsewhere, Victoria Sanchez-Bronzetti found her form and picked up her first singles win of the year while derailing an SIUE comeback attempt, winning a two-hour battle 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Nikki Perlwitz took her first singles win of the year as well, convincingly winning 6-4, 6-3.
The Braves will be back in action tomorrow for a 1 P.M. matchup against the Chicago State Cougars. Coverage will be provided on Twitter @BradleyUTennis and on BradleyBraves.com.
