PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley Softball has a busy week on tap, hosting games against Illinois-Springfield (Tuesday) and DePaul (Monday, March 8), in addition to the first road trip of the season in between with the Braves traveling to Louisville, Ky., for the Cardinal Classic Friday and Saturday.

After a week off from competition, Bradley (1-2 overall) gets back into the swing of things Tuesday with an 11 a.m. home game against Illinois-Springfield (1-8 overall) at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex Slugger Dome.  Tuesday's game will mark the first meeting between the Braves and Prairie Stars.

Bradley will play a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Louisville Friday afternoon to kick off play at the Cardinal Classic in Louisville, Ky.  Tournament play wraps up Saturday with a 1:30 p.m. contest against Miami (Ohio).  Friday's games against Louisville will be available on the ACC Network Extra.

The Braves have a quick turnaround after the Cardinal Classic, returning home to host DePaul Monday, March 8 for an 11 a.m. doubleheader at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex Slugger Dome.  The first game of the twinbill against the Blue Demons will be available on ESPN+.

The road trip to Louisville, Ky., will be Bradley's first trip to the Bluegrass State since playing in the 2018 Louisville Classic.  The Braves went 3-2 in that tournament, opening the event with a 19-5, five-inning victory over Eastern Michigan in which junior Stacia Seeton hit a pair of home runs and Jillian Navarro added one of her own.  Bradley has made five previous trips to the state of Kentucky (2018, 2014, 2009, 2007 & 2002) and the Braves are a combined 12-9 in games played in the state.

The Braves are 0-6 all-time against Louisville after dropping a pair of games to the Cardinals at the 2019 Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.  Bradley holds a slim 3-2 advantage in the all-time series with Miami (Ohio) after topping the Redhawks 8-0 in Peoria in February 2018 in the last meeting.

Depaul holds a 12-10 edge in the series with the Braves.  The last meeting between Bradley and the Blue Demons was in 2017 in Las Cruces, N.M., and DePaul will make the trip to Peoria for the first time since 1997.

Playing behind All-MVC performer Kealia Wysocki for the abbreviated 2020 season, Avry Blume has stepped in behind the plate for the Braves and made an early impact.  Blume appeared in 13 of BU's 23 games in 2020, collecting one hit in her 12 at bats.  This season, Blume is 4-for-8 with three doubles, one run and two RBI as she has accounted for half of Bradley's six extra-base hits through the first three contests.

Freshman pitcher Camryn Schaller has looked solid in her first two appearances as a Brave.  Schaller made her debut in the season opener against Western Illinois, coming out of the bullpen to pitch 3.2 scoreless innings as she held the Leathernecks to just two singles.  Schaller earned the save in BU's 5-4 comeback victory over Saint Louis a few days later, limiting the Billikens to one hit in 1.2 innings of work.  She held teams to a combined .158 batting average in her first two outings without giving up a run.

Bradley follows up next Monday's outings against DePaul by traveling to Johnson City, Tenn., for the Buccaneer Classic March 13 & 14, where the Braves will play a pair of games against Akron along with tournament host East Tennessee State.
