Loyola Chicago Takes Season's First Meeting, 2-0

The host Ramblers scored once in each half to take the season's first meeting against Bradley Soccer Sunday afternoon

CHICAGO, IL – Defense ruled the day, but host Loyola Chicago (3-1-2, 2-0-1 MVC) made the most of its limited opportunities to earn a 2-0 win against Bradley (2-3-0, 1-3-0 MVC) in Missouri Valley Conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park.
 
The teams combined for just seven shots on goal Sunday, but the Ramblers converted two of their chances while posting their fifth consecutive shutout.  Marc Torrellas assisted both Loyola goals, setting up Tyler Biggs in a scrum in front of the net in the seventh minute and Fabian Becerra with a rocket from just outside the box to complete the 60th minute.
 
Ramblers keeper Simon Jillson faced just six shots from the Braves and he delivered a save in each half to earn the shutout. 
 
Although Loyola finished with a 15-6 overall shots advantage, the Ramblers managed to put just five of those attempts on target.  Bryce Logan made three saves between the Bradley pipes.  The Braves finished with a narrow, 7-6, edge in corner kicks.
 
With the first lap around the MVC double round-robin schedule complete, Bradley will start the second league circuit Thursday by hosting nationally-ranked Missouri State in a 6 p.m. match Thursday at Shea Stadium.  A maximum capacity of 450 fans will be permitted to attend Thursday's match with general public ticket availability to be announced Wednesday.  Bradley University students may visit BradleyBraves.com to register for a game ticket by clicking the link within the Tickets menu.
