JOHNSON CITY, TN – Bradley (7-6) used a 4-run second inning, spearheaded by a two-run double by Grace French and an RBI single from Camryn Monteer, to defeat East Tennessee State , 4-2, and complete a perfect weekend at the Buccaneer Classic Sunday afternoon at Betty Basler Field.

The Braves extended their winning streak to five games and will look to continue their hot play when they begin Missouri Valley Conference play next weekend against Valparaiso at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.

Bradley got going early in the second inning as Taise Thompson led off with a single. She was immediately followed by Samantha Smith, who doubled Thompson over to third. French finished the job, helping her own cause in the circle, by doubling home Smith and Thompson for a 2-0 lead.

Two batters later, Monteer singled to cap a six-pitch at bat and plate both French and Lucy Mead.

The Buccaneers got to French in the third and fifth innings, tapping the Bradley starter for two runs on five hits in 4.1 innings of work. After her second pitching appearance of the day, French improved to 3-2 on the season.

Camryn Schaller threw 2.3 innings of one-hit relief, including a 1-2-3 seventh inning, to close out the victory for Bradley.

Bradley will play a 4-game series next weekend against Valparaiso. The first three games will count toward the MVC standings, while Sunday's series finale officially will be counted as a non-conference game. The series will get underway with a noon doubleheader Saturday on Petersen Hotels Field with coverage of all four weekend games slated for ESPN+. A limited number of fans will be permitted to attend Bradley Softball home games at Petersen Hotels Field with an exact determination of general public ticket availability to be announced Friday.
