OVERLAND PARK, KS – Bradley graduate forward Gerit Wintermeyer (Wiesbaden, Germany) is one of 30 men's soccer student-athletes recognized as candidates for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award®, according to an announcement by the award organizers Wednesday.

Wintermeyer provides the veteran presence to a youthful Bradley roster and enters the closing stretch of the season as Bradley's active leader in every offensive category, currently tied for third in program history with 10 career game-winning goals, while ranking ninth in both career points (56) and goals (24).  A two-time United Soccer Coaches All-West Region second-team selection and a three-time All-Missouri Valley Conference pick, Wintermeyer is team captain for a Bradley squad that features 23 first- and second-year student-athletes.  In fact, in each of Bradley's last four games, he has been the team's only starting field player who began this season with more than one year of collegiate playing experience.

Wintermeyer earned his bachelor's degree in international business in December, graduating with a 3.24 cumulative grade point average.  A 4-time qualifier for the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll, he is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration.

Wintermeyer becomes the third Bradley Soccer player recognized as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award, joining Todd Reedy (2007) and 2011 award finalist Bobby Smith.  The only Missouri Valley Conference student-athlete recognized among the 60 men's and women's soccer candidates announced Wednesday, Wintermeyer becomes the 16th Bradley student-athlete overall recognized for the national honor since 2007.  Classmate Gabi Haack of the Bradley women's basketball team also was honored as a 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award candidate this winter.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence:  community, classroom, character and competition.  An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The list of 30 men's soccer Senior CLASS Award candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists in April and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot, which will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select the candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 20201 NCAA Men's College Cup championship in May.
