Match Recap: Women's Tennis | | Josh Schwam, Athletics Communications Student Assistant
PEORIA, Ill – Despite a positive start by claiming the doubles point, Bradley Tennis fell by a score of 4-3 against MVC preseason favorite Illinois State Saturday afternoon at The Clubs at River City.

The Braves got off to a hot start, claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 by Victoria Sánchez-Bronzetti/Sandra Maletin and the clinching point with a win at No. 3 by Bozana Lojpur/Nikki Perlwitz.

The win at No. 1 was significant, as the Illinois State tandem of Tara Damnjanovic/Tijana Zlatanovic is the only duo to win Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week on more than one occasion this season.

After dropping the first two singles matches to finish, the Braves were given a needed boost by Sánchez-Bronzetti, who fought of a comeback to win 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

Lojpur played another marathon match, taking over two hours to knock off Damnjanovic at No. 2 singles 6-7 (5) 6-2, 6-4. The victory marks her third singles straight win in matches that played to a conclusion, now a team high. Her victory gave Bradley a 3-2 lead.

The Braves were unable to secure the victory as ISU claimed victories at Nos. 5 and 6 singles.

Bradley will have week-long rest before hitting the road for the first time this season as they travel to Missouri State next Saturday for an 11 a.m. matchup.
