PEORIA, Ill. – Senior golfer Taylor Ledwein (New Prague, Minn./New Prague) has been named this week's Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after claiming medalist honors at the Diane Daugherty Invitational.
Ledwein earned her second career medalist title, taking top individual honors at the Diane Daugherty Invitational in Kirkwood, Mo. In a tournament that featured eight of the other nine MVC schools, Ledwein batted windy conditions on the opening day to fire a career-best four-under 67 at the par-71 Greenbriar Hills Country Club. She played the back nine four-under with birdies on 11, 12, 13 and 15 during the opening round of play with her 67 the second-lowest round in school history. Ledwein followed it up with rounds 78 and 76 to finish at eight-over 221 and claim medalist honors by a stroke in addition to helping Bradley Women's Golf to a fourth-place team finish in the 16-team field. A marketing (global supply chain) major, Ledwein owns a 3.24 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Ledwein and the Braves return to action April 9 & 10 at the Jan Weaver Invitational in Murray, Ky., in the team's final outing before the Missouri Valley Conference Championship April 19 & 20.
