Game Recap: Soccer | | Bobby Parker, Associate AD for Communications
PEORIA, IL – A pair of late goals lifted visiting Drake over the Bradley soccer team, 2-0, on Tuesday night at Shea Stadium. The Braves are now 2-2-0 on the year with a 1-2-0 record in Missouri Valley Conference play, while the Bulldogs improve to 1-1-1 both overall and versus conference foes.

The schools battled in a scoreless deadlock for nearly 85 minutes with the Braves coming closest to scoring. In the 20th minute, Gerit Wintermeyer saw his wide-angled shot trickle just past the far post to keep the game scoreless.

In the second 45 minutes of action, Drake was able to take advantage of going with the wind and pressure the Bradley defense. The Bulldogs finally found the scoreboard in the 85th minute when Cory Pitlik's shot from 25 yards out found the side netting for the 1-0 game. Drake then added a counter-attacking goal in the 89th minute with Bradley trying for the equalizer when Istvan Wilhelms scored for the 2-0 final.

Drake finished the game with a 16-5 advantage in shots, including a 12-3 advantage in the second half with the wind.

Bryce Logan made two saves for Bradley in goal.

The Braves are back in action on Sunday, playing at Loyola Chicago with a 1 p.m. kickoff.
