The Bradley track and field teams are set to compete at the prestigious Drake Relays this weekend with three-day meet beginning Thursday night.

The Braves are set for action, starting on Thursday at 6 p.m. On the opening day of competition, Bradley is slated to compete in the 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m run.

The action begins on Friday at 2 p.m. with Bradley scheduled for the 200m dash, 1,500m invitational and 110m hurdles in addition to a number of relays – sprint medley, 4x100, 4x200, 4x800 and 4x1600.

Finally, Bradley will wrap up the Drake Relays on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Braves will have a trio of runners compete in the women's 800m invitational in addition to the 4x400 relay.

LAST TIME OUT
The Braves recorded 10 top-10 finishes last weekend at Indiana State's Gibson Invitational with the 800m run highlighting the day.

Wilma Nielsen earned Missouri Valley Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week honors after setting the school record in the 800m for the second-straight week. Twin sister, Julia Nielsen, posted the second-best time, while Tiana LoStracco was third at ISU.

Max Dieterich led the BU men and finished first of 42 runners in the event. He now ranks third in school history with his time of 1:50.50.

LAST TIME AT DRAKE RELAYS
McKenzie Altmayer led the Braves the last time BU competed at the Drake Relays two years ago. Altmayer clocked a time of 10:31.57 in the 3,000m steeplechase to break the program's record by more than five seconds. Altmayer is scheduled to make her season debut at this year's meet in the steeplechase.

BRAVES IN THE WEST RANKINGS
The Braves currently rank in the top 60 in the West Rankings a total of nine times so far this season. The goal this year is to finish in the top 32 to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA West Preliminary – reduced from the normal 48 bids due to COVID restrictions.

Alec Hatman leads the BU men by placing 14th in the rankings in the 800m. Max Dieterich and Scott Seymour follow at 45th and 51st, respectively. Evan Mitchell also ranks 45th in the 3,000m steeplechase, while Charlie Parrish is 55th in the event.

Wilma Nielsen leads a strong BU trio in the 800m run, ranking 34th. She is followed by Julia Nielsen in 38th and Tiana LoStracco in 44th. Wilma Nielsen is also 47th in the 1,500m run.
