SPRINGFIELD, MO – Bradley Tennis' season came to the close as the Braves fell 4-3 to the Drake Bulldogs in the quarterfinal round of the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Tennis Championships Friday afternoon.

The Braves got off to a hot start, taking wins at Nos. 1 and 3 Doubles to secure the doubles point. The 6-4 victory at No. 1 Doubles by Sandra Maletin/Victoria Sánchez-Bronzetti decided the point.

The Bulldogs got off to a hot start in singles, winning at Nos. 4 and 3 Singles, in that order, to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Bozana Lojpur sealed a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 2 Singles to tie the match score at 2-2.

Despite a win 6-1, 3-6, 6-1 win from Nikki Perlwitz at No. 6 Singles, loses from Maletin at No. 1 and Natalia Barbery at No. 5 Singles clinched the victory for the Bulldogs.

Barbery ends her career as one of the most decorated players in program history. She is one half of the winningest doubles duo in program history, collecting 43 wins with Maletin.

Her laundry list of accomplishments on the court includes All-MVC in 2019 at No. 4 Singles and No. 1 Doubles with Maletin, as well as two Missouri Valley Conference Player-of-the-Week selections.

Her talent on the court translated to the classroom, where, three-times being an MVC Scholar Athlete, including a First-Team selection in 2020, when she also was named the MVC Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
