Bradley Opens Competition at Illinois State

Normal, Ill. – The Bradley track and field teams opened action at the Illinois State Invite on Friday with a school-record performance in the 200m dash highlighting the day for BU.
 
Freshman T'ya Suber ran the 200m in 24.96 seconds – surpassing the previous school standard that had held for 30 years – Melodie Turner owned the top time in school history prior with a mark of 25.08, set in 1991.
 
Overall, Bradley posted five top-10 marks in school history in Friday's action. Freshman Julia Nielsen finished first of 15 runners in the 800m, crossing the finish line in 2:06.87 – the third-best mark in school history.
 
Freshman Tiana LoStracco clocked a time of 4:24.84 in the 1,500m run, placing second of 32 runners, while posting the fifth-best time in the BU record book. Amelia Lesher also posted a PR time of 4:39.32 in the event to finish ninth at ISU.
 
Junior McKenzie Altmayer ran the 5,000m in 16:59.04 in just her second event of the season – posting the ninth-best time in school history. Freshman Kyra Koontz wrapped up the action by tallying a distance of 5.30m in the long jump and now ranks fifth in the BU record book.
 
The Braves wrap up action at the Illinois State Invite on Saturday with the men's competition starting at 1 p.m.
