Tennis Set to Host NIU Under the Lights

PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley Tennis will look to break out of a three-match skid as Northern Illinois comes to town Tuesday for a 6 pm dual match at the David Markin Tennis Courts. The match will be streamed on ESPN+, marking the second Bradley Tennis dual match to be showcased as part of The Valley on ESPN initiative (2017 versus IUPUI in the Coliseum Classic).

SERIES HISTORY | LAST MEETING
  • The Huskies hold a 17-4 all-time record against Bradley. Bradley won 4-3 against Northern Illinois Feb. 22, 2020 at The Clubs at River City. 
  • The Braves have won four of the last five matches against the Huskies, including three straight matches.
  • Natalia Barbery squeaked out 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 victory at No. 3 Singles to clinch the victory.
 
NEW WINNING STREAKS
  • After having her team-high eight-match singles winning streak snapped against Illinois State to open conference play, Sandra Maletin got back on the winning circuit with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 victory at No. 1 Singles Saturday at Missouri State.
  • Joining her in the singles win column was Nikki Perlwitz, who now has won three of her last four singles matches. 
 
DOUBLES PLAY
  • After the No. 1 Doubles duo of Sandra Maletin/Victoria Sánchez-Bronzetti claimed its first Missouri Valley Conference Doubles Team of the Week Award March 31, it was the No. 2 tandem of Maria Bezmenova/Nina Marjanovic that anchored the Braves in doubles Saturday at Missouri State.
  • The pair moved to 2-1 together after a 6-3 win against the Bears.
 
SMILE, YOU'RE ON CAMERA
  • Bradley's match against Northern Illinois will be broadcasted on ESPN+.
  • The broadcast will mark the second Bradley Tennis broadcast and will be the first dual match broadcasted outdoors at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
  • After facing Saint Louis in a morning dual to kick off the inaugural Coliseum Classic March 25, 2017, the evening match against IUPUI, a 5-2 Bradley victory, was produced for ESPN3 coverage.
  • The event drew what is still a program record 353 fans.
 
NON-CONFERENCE BREAK
  • After dropping the opening two Missouri Valley Conference matches, Bradley Tennis has a welcome break for Tuesday's non-conference match against Northern Illinois. 
  • The Braves have gon 5-4 in non-conference dual match play so far this season and still has one more non-MVC match remaining April 17 against Saint Louis.
 
ATTENDANCE POLICY
Due to Restore Illinois Phase 4 COVID mitigation protocols and Bradley Athletics policy, fans will not be permitted to attend Bradley's indoor competitions at The Clubs at River City and will not be permitted inside the gate for outdoor competitions at the David Markin Courts at this time. Fans are permitted outside the fence at the David Markin Tennis Courts.
