Jillian Navarro Named Bradley Scholar-Athlete Of The Week

PEORIA, Ill. – Senior outfielder Jillian Navarro (Tempe, Ariz./Desert Vista) has been named this week's Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after helping Bradley Softball take the season series from Drake.

Navarro went 5-for-9 (.556) in the series against Drake with a double, two homers and eight RBI as she helped the Braves take the season series from Drake for the first time since 2015. She was 1-for-3 with a walk and two-run homer to help Bradley rally from a 5-1 deficit for a 7-5 victory in the opener. Navarro followed that up with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate to highlight BU's 18-1 victory in the nightcap, driving in five runs. In Sunday's series finale, she homered in the final home at bat of her career, blasting a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth as she moved into sole possession of fifth on Bradley's career home run list with her 19^th career homer. An entrepreneurship major, Navarro owns a 3.03 cumulative grade point average.

Each week, a student-athlete is selected as the Bradley Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in academic standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Navarro and the Braves return to action Thursday in Evansville, Ind., facing either Indiana State or Valparaiso in a 1 p.m. second round game at the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
