Game Recap: Softball |
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Evansville's Izzy Vetter kept Bradley hitless and the Aces scored 11 times as the Braves dropped the series finale 11-1 Sunday afternoon at Cooper Stadium to conclude the three-game Missouri Valley Conference series.

The Aces (23-19 overall, 11-12 MVC) took advantage of four walks in the bottom of the first to score three runs without a hit.  A hit batter and fielder's choice to start the frame put two runners on and the first walk of the inning loaded the bases.  Marah Wood drew a base on balls to drive in the first run of the contest and another run came home on a wild pitch.  After Lindsay Renneisen drew a one-out walk to load the bases again, Hannah Hood drew a free pass of her own to drive in another run as Evansville took a 3-0 lead.

Eryn Gould led off the Evansville half of the second with a solo homer to open a six-run inning for the Aces.  Haley Woolf followed a Katie McLean walk with a double to put two runners on and a one-out, two-run double by Jessica Fehr pushed the UE advantage to 6-0.  A three-run, two-out homer off the bat of Alyssa Barela capped the scoring as Evansville built a 9-0 edge.

Bradley got on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth.  Camryn Monteer was BU's first baserunner of the contest, drawing a four-pitch walk to leadoff the inning and the Braves had two on after Jordy van der Werf was hit by a pitch.  With runners at second and third after a wild pitch, Taise Thompson drove home Monteer with a sacrifice fly to center to cut the Evansville lead to 9-1.

In the bottom half of the fourth, Fehr opened the inning with a double and Hood drove her home from third with a RBI single to center.  Evansville's lead was 11-1 after another run came home on a groundout by Jenna Lis.

Keeler van Breusegen walked to leadoff Bradley's half of the fifth, but Vetter retired the next three batters she faced to close out the win for Evansville.  Vetter struck out five and walked two in the no hitter.

Bradley returns home to close out the regular-season schedule with a three-game series against Drake, starting Saturday with a noon doubleheader at Petersen Hotels Field at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
