PEORIA, IL – A trio of Braves have been recognized for their contributions to the Bradley Softball team during the 2021 season, according to the announcement of the squad's five postseason team awards.

Sophomore outfielder Keeler van Breusegen (Columbia, IL/Columbia HS) receives the 2021 Bradley Softball Defensive Award; sophomore pitcher/utility player Grace French (Benicia, CA/Benicia HS) is the recipient of the squad's 4D Award in recognition of her Desire, Dedication, Determination and Discipline; and sophomore 3B Camryn Monteer (Boonville, MO/Boonville R-1 HS) earned a trio of awards: Offensive Award, Most Improved Player and Most Valuable Player.

Van Breusegen was a starter in 28 of the 34 games she played in 2021, posting a 1.000 fielding percentage with a pair of assists from her outfield position.

French, who was named to the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete first team last week, led the 2021 Braves in pitching victories (eight), innings (78.1) and strikeouts (47) and she will enter the 2022 season as Bradley's active leader in appearances, wins, innings pitched, strikeouts, complete games and shutouts.  She also belted a pair of home runs, including a tying blast in Bradley's eventual 4-1 win April 3 against Missouri State.

Monteer earned All-Missouri Valley Conference second-team honors for her play on the field during the 2021 season, as well as MVC Scholar-Athlete honorable mention in recognition of her combined efforts in the classroom.  She took over as Bradley's leadoff hitter midway through the season and responded with 11 multi-hit performances contributing to her team-leading .342 batting average.  Monteer also paced the Braves by contributing to 37 runs – 11 driven in and 26 scored.

The trio of team honorees helped Bradley to a top six finish in the Missouri Valley Conference for fifth time in the last six league seasons.  After earning a first-round bye for the MVC Softball Championship, the Braves downed Indiana State, 3-2, in the second round to advance to the tourney quarterfinals.
