Kirkham Leads Braves At Wildcat Invite

MANHATTAN, Kan. – Junior Josh Kirkham fired a one-under 71 in the second round and is tied for ninth in the field as he helped Bradley Men's Golf close the opening day of play at the Wildcat Invitational in a tie for 12^th Monday.

Kirkham posted the low round of the young season for the Braves with a one-under 71 Monday afternoon at the par-72 Colbert Hills Golf Club. He turned in a first-round 75 earlier in the day and closed Monday's action tied for ninth overall, three shots out of the top five in the individual standings.

The second-round 71 by Kirkham helped Bradley improve by 11 shots in the second round. The Braves opened the day with a 319, but had three individuals fire lower rounds in the afternoon as Bradley turned in a second-round 308 to finish the day 12^th in the team standings at 627. BU holds a two-shot lead on 13^th-place Omaha (629) and heads into Tuesday's final round nine shots back of 11^th-place South Dakota (618). Sam Houston State leads the field at 584, with Kansas City second at 585 and a pair of teams in tournament-host Kansas State and Creighton tied for third overall 587.

Senior Jalen Hodges also improved in the afternoon, chasing a first-round 82 with a second-round 77 to close the day in a tie for 56^th (159).

Junior John Stillman and graduate transfer Aaeri Krishnan are tied for 58^th at 161 heading into the final round. Stillman was three shots better in the second round, firing a season-best 79 in the second round on the heels of an opening round 82. Making his Bradley debut, Krishnan shot a first-round 80 and carded a second-round 81 to finish tied with Stillman in the individual standings.

Sophomore Brady Kreiter rounded out the team scoring for the Braves at 165 in a tie for 71^st after rounds of 82 and 83 Monday.

The final round of the Wildcat Invitational will get underway Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
