Bradley Cross Country Opens 2021 Campaign at Iowa

The Bradley cross country teams are ready for action for the first time during the 2021 season, competing at the Hawkeye Invite Friday.
 

MEET INFO
The women's 4K race starts the action off at 6 p.m. at Iowa, while the men's 6K race follows at 6:45 p.m.
 
The Braves will be joined by the host Hawkeyes, Creighton, Drake, Illinois-Chicago, Illinois State, Iowa State, Loyola, Northern Illinois, Northern Iowa and Northwestern.
 

LAST SEASON
The Braves competed in two meets during the abbreviated winter cross country season. Both the men's and women's programs placed second at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, marking the sixth-straight campaign both have finished in the top two.
 

MVC PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Bradley men's team is slated to finish first, as voted on in the MVC preseason poll. BU received 6-of-9 first-place votes for 78 total points. Drake followed with 70 points and two first-place votes, while Illinois State had 62 points and the final first-place selection.
 
The Bradley women are picked to finish second by the conference coaches. Loyola is the preseason favorite with 99 points and nine first-place votes, while the Braves followed with 90 points and the remaining top pick. Illinois State (76), Drake (74) and Northern Iowa (53) round out the top five.
 

NCAA REGIONAL RANKINGS
The Braves are the only Missouri Valley Conference school to feature both of their teams in the USTFCCCA rankings. The men's team is 14th in the nine-state Midwest poll, while the women are currently slated 11th.
 

UP NEXT
The Braves are back in action on Friday, Sept. 17, hosting the Bradley Intercollegiate. The first of two home meets this season begins at 5:45 p.m. at Detweiller Park.
