EDWARDSVILLE, IL – Jack Douglas completed his first career brace by scoring the golden winner with just 2:59 remaining in the second overtime, lifting Bradley (2-5-0, 1-1-0 MVC) to a 4-3 win at Missouri Valley Conference rival SIU Edwardsville (1-5-2, 0-2-0 MVC) Saturday night at Ralph Korte Stadium.

Spoiling SIUE's annual Homecoming event, Bradley earned its first win at SIU Edwardsville since Sept. 10, 1995.

Saturday's tussle got off to a fast start as the team's combined for five goals inside the first 28 minutes, beginning with Alex Segura's strike just 1-minute, 18-seconds into the game.

Dominating possession throughout the first half, however, Bradley had an immediate answer off a long throw sequence started by Jake Schoffstall in the fifth minute.  Playing a ball served back into the box from Michael Rogalski, Camden Kowalski headed home the tying goal at 4:58.

The back-and-forth scoring continued in the eighth minute when Kelby Phillips pushed the host Cougars back in front at 7:16, only to see another sequence of long throws lead to Bradley's equalizer in the 16th minute.  Schoffstall again started the scoring play, this time with a throw from the right side.  After a touch from Francesco Pettinarolli, Patrick Fishburne knocked home the tying goal at 15:43.

Unable to keep the momentum, however, Bradley once again fell behind when the Cougars found the net for a third time on a Pau Palcin strike at 27:33.

Although it took more than 40 minutes of game action to find another equalizer, Bradley continued to force the issue and ultimately broke through in unusual fashion in the 70th minute.  Defending a SIUE restart, Camden Kowalski cleared the ball off the top of the Bradley 18-yard line with a deep drive into SIUE territory.  Cougars keeper Lluis Martorell left the penalty area to attempt to clear the ball, but Douglas beat him to the ball, shook his defender and scored at 69:08 for a 3-3 tie.

Already with the momentum of the tying goal, Bradley seemed to take command when SIUE's Harvey Moyes was sent off with a pair of cards for arguing a foul call in the 79th minute.  Playing short-handed for the final 11 minutes of regulation and the 17 minutes of extra time, the Cougars seemed to become more aggressive offensively, however, outshooting the Braves 6-1 in the next 27 minutes.

But it only takes on chance in extra time and Douglas made the most of his opportunity.  The game-winning sequence started when the Braves retrieved the ball from the end line on the right flank and played it back to the top corner of the penalty area, where Jared Sinnaeve sent a shot that caromed off Pettinaroli near the goal mouth and fell to Douglas, who took his time and calmly deposited the ball in the back of the net for the golden goal at 107:01 to complete Bradley's highest scoring game since a 4-0 win against Missouri State Oct. 17, 2015.

The four goals were the most for the Braves in a road game since a 5-1 victory at Evansville Oct. 10, 2015.

After splitting its first two Valley games of the season on the road, the Braves will return to Shea Stadium for its next two games, beginning with a 7 p.m. kickoff Wednesday night against Loyola Chicago.  Bradley will follow with its annual Homecoming game Saturday night against Missouri State.
