Game Recap: Women's Basketball | | Bobby Parker, Sr. Associate AD for Communications and Event & Facility Operations
SPRINGFIELD, MO – Bradley got off to a strong start, but when the Braves went cold through the middle half of the game, host Missouri State (13-3, 4-1 MVC) pulled away for a 66-46 Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball victory Thursday night at JQH Arena.

Senior point guard Tatum Koenig led the Braves with 12 points and four assists, while forwards Abbie Draper and Daija Powell provided a lift off the bench, each posting 10 points.  Draper added seven rebounds and four blocked shots, while Powell added six rebounds.

Abigayle Jackson led the way for the home side, posting a double-double of 22 points and 10 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots.  Sydney Wilson completed the game's double-digit scoring with 15 points, just missing a double-double of her own with nine rebounds.

With Draper (5) and Powell (4) combining for nine quick points, Bradley built a 13-5 lead with 2:33 left in the first quarter.  The Braves settled for a 13-9 lead after the end of the first quarter, holding the Bears to 4-for-21 (.190) shooting in the opening period.

After building its lead, however, Bradley closed the quarter by going 0-for-1 with three turnovers, a sign of things to come as Missouri State used a 29-6 surge that extended to 5:56 left in the third quarter to take control.  The Braves were 3-for-18 from the field with 10 turnovers during the 16-minute, 37-second stretch.

Bradley got no closer than 10 points, 34-24 on a Koenig 3-pointer with 4:50 left in the first half, the rest of the way.

Bradley held Missouri State to 31.9 percent (23-of-72) shooting from the field, but the Bears used 22 offensive rebounds and a +12 turnover margin to put up 24 more field goal attempts than the Braves, who finished 17-for-48 (.354) from the field.  Missouri State also benefitted from 10 more free throw attempts than the Braves, 15-for-22 compared to 8-for-12.

The Braves will complete their 2-game road swing Saturday by visiting Southern Illinois for a 2 p.m. Valley clash in Carbondale, then will start a 4-game home stand by hosting Drake Jan. 27 (6:30 p.m.) at Renaissance Coliseum.
