PEORIA, IL – Making her first career start, Bradley sophomore forward Isis Fitch scored a career-best 16 points and senior guard Tatum Koenig shared game-high honors with 19 points, but Drake (11-8, 3-5 MVC) rode a 32-4 surge from midway in the first quarter through the middle of the second to an 80-56 Missouri Valley Conference Women's Basketball win Thursday night at Renaissance Coliseum.

In the season's first rematch of the 2021 Hoops in the Heartland MVC Women's Basketball Championship title game won by the Braves, Bradley outscored the Bulldogs, 52-48, for 29 minutes Thursday.

Caroline Waite gave the Braves their first lead, 9-7, on a 3-pointer with 6:04 left in the first quarter and Koenig added a second go-ahead trey for a 12-9 advantage with 5:22 left in the quarter.  During the next 11 minutes, however, the Braves went 2-for-14 from the field, 0-for-2 from the free throw line and committed five turnovers, while Drake took off by shooting 13-for-18 from the field, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range, to build a 41-16 lead with 4:21 left in the second quarter.

For the other 29 minutes of the game, Bradley was 18-of-46 (.391) from the field, including 7-of-20 (.350) from 3-point range with five turnovers, compared to Drake's 17-for-48 (.354) effort from the field and 6-for-25 (.240) from 3-point range.

Maggie Bair led the Bulldogs with 19 points and Grace Berg added 16.  Sarah Beth Gueldner completed the game's double-digit scoring with 10 points off the bench and Courtney Becker pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in her reserve effort.  Fitch, freshman Abbie Draper and Koenig all shared Bradley team-high rebounding honors with five boards apiece.

Bradley closed the gap to 11 points twice in the fourth quarter, first, 64-53, on a Chloe Rice 3-pointer with 6:55 left and again, 65-54, when Koenig split a pair of free throws with 5:19 remaining, but the Bulldogs regained control on a Berg 3-point play for a 68-54 cushion with 4:36 left and then outscored the Braves, 12-0, over the final 2:51.

Bradley will continue its weekend slate against The Valley's two Iowa schools by hosting UNI Saturday in a 2 p.m. tip at Renaissance Coliseum.
