Peoria, Ill. - The Bradley Braves (3-7-3, 1-3-1 MVC) had a busy few days during their last stretch of play, taking on Eastern Illinois in Peoria and Michigan on the road in Ann Arbor.
ABOUT EASTERN ILLINOIS
Both sides sported a very physical back-and-forth style that resulted in a scoreless first half. The Panthers, however, were able to break the Bradley pressure first as Maxwell Allen rolled a shot just to the left of Bradley keeper
Nick Burke to give the Panthers the 1-0 edge in the 66th minute.
Bradley wouldn't take long to capitalize. In the 69th minute, senior midfielder
Pepe Mellado began a run on goal that gave Bradley their only goal of the contest, coming off an assist from
Jackson Fyda to
Gonzalo Gil. The score stood at 1-1 through the full 90 minutes.
ABOUT MICHIGAN
Just three days after drawing with Eastern Illinois, Bradley would hit the road to take on Big Ten foe Michigan. Going into the match, the Braves were 8-12-1 all-time versus Big Ten opponents. It was a feeling-out process for a majority of the first half, but a goal in the 45th minute from Nicholas Cassidy gave Michigan the 1-0 advantage into the locker room.
The Wolverines would tack on two more goals in the second half to make the final 3-0.
WHAT'S UP NEXT
The Braves will be back in Missouri Valley Conference action, as they travel to Des Moines, Iowa on Wednesday to take on Drake at 6 p.m. and host the UIC Flames on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game. It marks the second time that Bradley has played both programs this season. Bradley was able to defeat Drake 1-0, while dropping the first matchup with UIC, 3-0.
