Tennis Starts Season-Long Homestand

PEKIN, IL. – Bradley Tennis opens a season-long, three-match homestand with a doubleheader Saturday when the Braves host Eastern Illinois and Pekin.

SERIES HISTORY vs. OMAHA | LAST MEETING
  • The Braves and Mavericks have only recently begun their series, with Bradley leading 3-2.
  • The first matchup between the two came in 2013, a 4-3 Bradley win in Peoria.
  • The clubs have alternated wins in every matchup of the all-time series.
  • BU won the last matchup in 2019, 6-1, at The Clubs at River City.
 
SERIES HISTORY vs. EASTERN ILLINOIS | LAST MEETING
  • The Braves and Panthers have met 32 times on the tennis court, with Eastern Illinois holding a 17-15 series edge.
  • BU has won two dual matches in a row against EIU, both by scores of 5-2 in 2019 and 2021 respectively.
 
HOME COOKING
  • Saturday marks the first time in Bradley Tennis history that BU will play a home match at Parkside Fitness in Pekin
  • At home indoor matches under Head Coach Matt Tyler, Bradley Tennis boasts a 35-21 (.625) record. 
  • It gets even better for the Braves when you combine outdoor home matches. Since Tyler took the helm in 2013-14, the Braves are 49-26 (.653) at three home venues. 
  • Under Tyler, the Braves have won five consecutive home indoor matches three times, occurring in 2014-15 and 2015-16 to open the home season and in 2018-19 where Bradley also rattled off five straight triumphs at The Clubs at River City.
  • The Braves are on a three-match home winning streak dating back to the 2020-21 season.

  • Nikki Perlwitz and Bozana Lojpur are creeping up the Bradley Tennis Record Book in multiple statistical categories.
  • Lojpur sits eighth in Bradley Tennis history in career singles wins with 56. She is two wins away from a tie for seventh place.
  • She is closely trailed by Perlwitz, who owns 54 career wins and is in a tie for ninth place. 
  • The duo is also in a tie for fifth in program history in career doubles wins with 32.
 
LAST WEEK
  • Bradley Tennis picked up its first win of the 2021-22 dual match season Saturday against Chicago State, 6-1. 
  • BU followed that up with a setback to future Valley foe UIC the next day in Chicago.
  • Maria Bezmenova went undefeated in singles play over the weekend, picking up back-to-back three set wins.
