Game Recap: Softball |
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Bradley Softball had its three-game win streak snapped, with the Braves on the wrong end of a pitcher's duel as Miami (OH) topped BU 2-0 Sunday morning to conclude action at the Roar City Invite.

Miami (1-3 overall) starter Briana Pratt struck out 10 and tossed a two-hit complete game shutout to silence a Bradley (4-5 overall) offense that scored 28 runs in its last three games.  Pratt gave up singles to two of the first five batters she faced before retiring 14 straight Braves.

Bradley starter Raegan Branon matched Pratt early on, with the Redhawks getting just one hit through the first three frames.  Branon surrendered just four hits and two earned runs in the complete game effort.

Miami got on the scoreboard in the fourth, taking advantage of a leadoff walk.  The second walk of the contest by Kate Kobayashi started the frame and she came home on a Karlee Juarez single after stealing second to give the Redhawks a 1-0 lead.  Miami threatened to add more with Holly Blaska adding a two-out single to put two runners on, but one of Branon's four strikeouts on the day ended the inning.

A solo homer by Karli Spaid to leadoff the Miami fifth pushed the Redhawks advantage to 2-0.

Pratt allowed just one Bradley base runner in the final five innings with Lucy Mead reaching on a strikeout and wild pitch with two outs in the sixth.

Bradley returns to action next weekend, opening play at the Plainsman Invite in Auburn, Ala., Friday with a 11:30 a.m. outing against Delaware State.
